Please join APT WGLC on a tour of Mies Van der Rohe’s Farnsworth House in Plano, Illinois.

The iconic Farnsworth House was constructed between 1945 and 1951 along the Fox River as a weekend retreat for Dr. Edith Farnsworth. The house is widely known as an icon of the International Style and is listed in the National Register of Historic Places.

The National Trust will hold a 90-minute tour curated specifically for APT WGLC starting at 10:00 am on Saturday, March 10th. A minimum attendance of 15 people is required to hold the tour. The maximum attendance is 20 people; however, if there is significant interest, a second group may be added. Due to the required minimum attendance, registration fees are not refundable unless the tour is cancelled due to insufficient registration or by the National Trust. APT WGLC is partially subsidizing the cost of the tour for chapter members by providing a $5 discount on the standard $20 fee. The fee for non-WGLC members to attend with the group is $25.

A separate email with additional visitor information will be sent to those who register. Parking is available at the Visitor’s Center.

We hope you’ll join us as we continue to explore the preservation challenges of Modern architecture on April 21st as APT WGLC in conjunction with DOCOMOMO Chicago, and IIT College of Architecture, hosts a symposium on Preservation Challenges of Modernist Structures. Please see http://www.aptwglc.com/Annual-Symposium for more details as available.
