Please join APT WGLC and APT EGLC for a special guided tour of the House of Tomorrow.

The House of Tomorrow was designed by George Keck for the 1933 Century of Progress World’s Fair held in Chicago. The House of Tomorrow is one of five exhibited houses that were relocated to Beverly Shores, Indiana in 1934. The house has been vacant since 1999 and will soon undergo a significant rehabilitation.

The tour will be led by Todd Zeiger, Director of the Northern Regional Office of Indiana Landmarks and APT WGLC member, Edward Torrez, Principal at BauerLatoza Studio. Todd and Edward will discuss the ongoing rehabilitation of the House of Tomorrow.  Also, Todd will share the unique relationship between Indiana Landmarks and the National Parks Service regarding the facilitation and leasing of the House of Tomorrow and the other four Century of Progress homes which have already been rehabilitated.

Details: Saturday, June 22nd, 11:00 am - 1:00 pm, (plan to join the group for lunch after if time allows)

The tour is limited up to 32 participants.

The event is free for members of APT WGLC and EGLC and $10 for non-members.

Please wear project site appropriate footwear (no sandals or flip-flops).

Parking adjacent to the building is limited to eight vehicles.  You may be required to walk from a remote spot to the site.

Please contact aptwglc@gmail.com if you are interested in driving in a carpool or riding in one from the Chicago area.

Indiana Landmarks Logs to Lustrons tour:

Do you favor rustic landmarks, like early log structures? Or are you a fan of Mid-Century Modern-style houses? Either way, we’ve got you covered on our May 4 Logs to Lustrons tour. Indiana Landmarks, in partnership with the Indiana Dunes National Park, team up to present 13 sites spanning a century of architecture, including restored residences not normally open to the public and vacant landmarks in need of a new use. Eight interiors will be open for touring. If you’d like an even deeper experience — and decide where you want to spend the most time on the tour — come on Friday, May 3 for an evening lecture on the architecture and history of the National Park.
